The illumination of the Leela Palace New Delhi presented a unique challenge: balancing the heritage of traditional Lutyens’ architecture with a contemporary, high-fidelity lighting scheme. Our objective was to treat light as a structural element, one that navigates the guest through the soaring grand atrium while delicately accentuating the intricate stone carvings and handcrafted gold-leaf details.
By utilizing custom-engineered Kendo photometric profiles, we achieved a seamless transition between natural daylight and the palace’s evening states. The installation utilizes a series of discrete, high-CRI recessed projectors and hidden linear accents that render the palace's rich textures with absolute precision.
This is not merely a lighting plan; it is a spatial orchestration designed to evoke a sense of quiet majesty. We ensured that every volumetric space—from the marble-clad corridors to the ornate ballroom—was experienced in its most flattering light, preserving the palace’s opulent DNA while modernizing its technical performance.
